Mike is also a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners and is widely recognised as one of the province’s leading practitioners in Trust & Estate Tax and Inheritance Tax Planning.
Mike has lectured to professional audiences both nationally & internationally and is well sought after in the professional lecturing tour.
Brief overview of Education: Mike studied at both Graduate & Post Graduate level at Queens University before joining the Inland Revenue as a direct entrant Graduate Inspector where he qualified as a Senior Inspector of Taxes. He then joined Coopers & Lybrand and trained as a Chartered Accountant.
Brief overview of Employment History: Mike joined the Inland Revenue as a Direct Entrant Inspector in 1985, he then left the Revenue to join Coopers & Lybrand where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
In December 1995 Mike left Coopers & Lybrand and was instrumental in creating a new practice, ASM Horwath. Mike spent ten years with ASM Horwath, on 01st February 2005 Mike joined local firm Tumelty Dawson to head up this practice which was then renamed DNT Chartered Accountants and since that time has been instrumental in leading the Firm through a substantial transformation including moving the Firm to modern offices in Ormeau House on the Ormeau Road and growing the size of the Firm from six members of staff to over forty including expanding to offices located in Lisburn, Rathfriland & Antrim.
Interests: When time permits Mike loves the great outdoors including hiking, climbing & camping & he is a veteran of over 25 mountain marathons. He also regularly plays football & golf, although neither terribly effectively!
